Dr Peter Howard Dinsdale CText FTI
World President of The Textile Institute
23 March 1945 – 10 August 2014

It is with great sadness that The Textile Institute announces the death of its World President Dr Peter Dinsdale CText FTI. Peter sadly passed away on Sunday 10 August 2014 in hospital where he had been receiving treatment for Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

This news will be a great shock to his many friends and colleagues at the Institute and around the world. His passing is a great loss to The Textile Institute and the textile industry as a whole. We are truly thankful as an organisation for this contribution and we will certainly be the poorer for his passing.

A memorial service will take place to celebrate Dr Dinsdale's life on Saturday 13 September at 2pm at the Royal Over-Seas League, Park Place, St. James's Street, London SW1A 1LR  UK.  All are welcome to attend. For further details or to register your interest in attending please do not hesitate to contact Stephanie Dick CEO at sdick@textileinst.org.uk

The Chairman of The Textile Institute Helen Rowe CompTI CText FTI, stated that ‘His legacy will be one of rejuvenation, of expanding interest in the work of the TI throughout the textile world and of increasing our contacts across the globe. He will be sorely missed’.

A full obituary and tribute will be published in the next issue of textiles .
