The purpose of Practical Statistics for the Textile Industry, written by Mr G A V Leaf CText FTI, a Senior Lecturer in the University of Leeds, is to explain the fundamental ideas of statistics and to illustrate the application of the methods with a practical examples drawn from textiles. The main concern is to lay sound foundations. Too much mathematical detail is avoided. stress is laid on having an appreciation of when a certain statistical technique can be safely applied and of when its use may lead to erroneous conclusions.
