Guest Speaker: Christopher Nieper OBE, Chief Executive, British Fashion Company

Derbyshire based David Nieper has been making high class fashion in Britain for 60 years, last year winning the Queen’s Award for Sustainability. While fashion is one of the world’s most polluting industries, accounting for 8+% of global carbon emissions every year, there is no clear plan of action yet from governments to address fashion’s contribution to the spiralling climate crisis. To help address the situation, the company’s charitable foundation has launched an eco-label to be used nationwide by the UK fashion industry. The ‘Carbon Checker’ is a simple label designed to help consumers choose eco-friendly garments and do their bit to help fight climate change.
