Competitions
The Textile Institute runs a number of competitions throughout the year (including Medals and Awards) and also supports Corporate Member, Partner, TI Section and Special Interest Group competitions and awards. A number of the Institutes competitions have been set up to help and support (but not limited to) students, graduates, new comers to the industry and entrepreneurs and the Institute strives to recognise achievement and reward excellence.
Some competitions are limited to Corporate Members as well those academic institutions who have an undergraduate or postgraduate course accredited by The Textile Institute.
The Institute welcomes requests from industry, membership associations, trade bodies, academic institutions, livery companies, exhibition organisers, charities and independent organisations worldwide to form a partnership agreement with the aim of promoting the work of the recipient(s) of the award as well as the partner organisation.

Bradford Textile Society’s Design Competition 2023
Entry deadline:
05.05.23The Society’s annual Design Competition, with total prize money of over £17,000, is unique in its breadth of coverage and attracts almost 1,000 entries from students throughout the UK.
The Textile Institute supports this competition and is pleased to offer a one year membership to all first place winners of the competition.
Entries must be made by Friday 5 May 2023.

Student Bursary Awards

12.06.23The Benevolent Committee is offering financial support to assist a limited number of students to attend the 92nd Textile Institute World Conference 2023 (TIWC 2023), which is being held at the University of Huddersfield, Huddersfield, UK, 3-6 July 2023.
Each bursary will cover the student conference fee and one year’s student membership of The Textile Institute (if the recipient is not already a member).

Medals and Awards 2023
Entry deadline:
31.12.23The Medals and Awards Committee is now seeking nominations from industry and academia for Medals and Awards 2023 in categories such as a demonstrable effect on sustainability policy and practice, assistance for a student to present a paper at an international conference, devotion to the furtherance of scientific knowledge of fibers, or distinguished service on a Section Committee.
The closing date for Medals and Awards 2023 nominations is 31 December 2023.

Student Bursary Awards for TIWC 2023
The Committee of Management of The Textile Institute Benevolent Society is offering financial support to assist a limited number of students to attend the 92nd Textile Institute World Conference 2023 (TIWC 2023), which is being held at the University of Huddersfield, Huddersfield, UK, 3-6 July 2024. Each bursary will cover the student conference delegate fee and one year’s student membership of The Textile Institute (if the recipient is not already a member). Eligibility
The bursaries are open to full-time undergraduate or postgraduate students studying textile-related subjects (including clothing and footwear) in the UK. This may also apply to full-time PhD students and those on a part-time undergraduate or postgraduate course who are not working full-time and receive a salary below GB£7000 per annum (or equivalent). Preference will be given to students who are already members of The Textile Institute and/or who are presenting a paper at TIWC 2023.
How to enter
Applicants should submit a supporting statement in English (maximum 500 words) explaining how they would benefit from attending TIWC 2023.
Entries marked World Conference Student Bursaries 2023 and including full contact details should be emailed for the attention of the CEO Stephanie Dick by Monday 12 June 2023 at the following address tiihq@textileinst.org.uk
Condition of the award
As a condition of accepting their awards, successful applicants are required to submit a short report after the Conference outlining the benefits, they have gained from attending which will be published in the membership magazine and online.
Assessment
All entries will be assessed by a panel appointed by the Committee of Management and applicants will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible after the closing date.
